Born and raised in Detroit,
Michigan, Doug Bortnem began singing
early in his life. After many experiences in school and a developed great
interest in Southern Gospel music, Doug formed his first quartet, the
Libertyaires, at age 14. At age 17, Doug worked as assistant choir director
in large non-denominational church and soon became music director. His
interest in Southern Gospel music eventually led him to become involved in
booking talent with the Skylite/Sing Gospel Booking Agency in Nashville,
TN. These musical experiences led Doug
to Tulsa in 1976 as a booking
agent for many big named country music stars. While in Tulsa,
Doug met Doyle McAlister and the Tulsans and now sings the baritone part.
Doug lives in Tulsa and has
three daughters and a son, Kristin, Stephanie,
Brittany, and Ryan.
